The History of Nissan Rogue in America

It’s no surprise that crossovers have become one of the hottest vehicle models in the United States today. Drivers are much more MPG focused but still enjoy the space and size SUV’s provide, hence the love for crossovers. The Nissan Rogue has only been on the road for five years but has made a major impact in its market. In fact, Nissan just announced the Rogue’s sales numbers increased 25.1% in 2011 with 124,543 units sold in the United States.

Debuting on January 7th, 2007 at the North American International Auto Show, the Nissan Rogue offered two trims including S and SL. The Nissan Rogue S, a standard base model, came with a traditional package including ABS, cruise control, air conditioning, keyless entry, AM/FM/CD stereo, four speakers, auxiliary input jack, and power windows, locks, and mirrors.

The SL Package for first generation Nissan Rogue featured 17” alloy wheels, power outside mirrors, 6-way adjustable drivers seat, roof rails, rear tinted glass, and a polished exhaust tip. HID headlights, fog lights, leather seats, and an 8-speaker stereo became available in later editions. The optional “360 Value” package included a rear spoiler, chrome grille, 16” alloy wheels, rear privacy glass, and auto-dimming rear view mirror.

Although the individual packages have changed throughout the years, the Nissan Rogue’s extraordinary safety features have yielded nearly perfect rankings from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.  In addition to standard ABS with brake-assist and electronic brake-force distribution, the Nissan Rogue provides front and side curtain airbags, tire-pressure monitors, and traction anti-skin control. All of these precautionary measures have resulted in a 5 Star Frontal Driver Rating, 4 Star Frontal Passenger Rating, 5 Star Side Impact Rating, and 4 Star Rollover Rating.

The 2012 Nissan Rogue is a prime example of what a passionate and innovative automaker can do in only five years. Stop into your closest Nissan dealership today and test drive the 2012 Nissan Rogue for yourself!
